Three of Ghana's top TikTok influencers revealed their earnings from the video-sharing app and how to leverage social media to create money in the digital age.
TikTok is a social media platform that enables users to upload short videos with a variety of special effects and editing capabilities.
Teenagers and young adults use the programme to create and share lip-syncing, comedy sketches, and other creative material.
Wesley Kesseh, who has 1.4 million TikTok followers, was one of the app's early Ghanaian users. Wesley's content ranges from fashion to cuisine to humour. He admitted to drawing inspiration from anywhere and everywhere.
Emma Ifeanyi, who has 5 million followers and 93,000 likes on Instagram, is well-known for his comic routines disguised as a lady with traditional Ghanaian costume, such as the Kaba and slit.
Ifeanyi, a Nigerian by origin, rose to prominence in Ghana thanks to the attentive coaching of Erkuah Official.
Erkuah also has 4.3 million followers and around 60,000 views. She discussed her life before and after TikTok. She said that she couldn't afford to take care of herself, adding that she couldn't afford a wig and only had two pairs of shoes.
How do they make money on TikTok?
"This is how we make our money. When people like brands come to us and want us to advertise something for them, I charge you and make a video for you. Song promotions. And we also make money through live streams," Erkuah Official answered.
TikTok has emerged as one of the most important music marketing platforms in Ghana and worldwide.
A catchy tune combined with a terrific dance is typically the recipe for a popular song these days.
As a result, practically every musician pays these influencers to create videos with their songs in order to gain more exposure.
