The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, through the Minister of Education, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, has directed that the eight dismissed students of Chiana SHS be recalled and given alternative punishment.
After the matter was brought to his attention, the President intervened in a press release dated January 13, 2023, and signed by the Spokesperson of the GES.
"Consequently Minister for Education Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum has directed the Ghana Education Service to consider an alternative disciplinary action instead of dismissal," the letter read in part.
The students were fired after they were heard disrespecting the President in a viral video.
