According to Romain Molina, an investigative reporter for the BBC, players from Ghana and Cameroon paid money to participate in the 2022 World Cup.

He continued by claiming that several Black Stars players paid money to be chosen for the tournament in Qatar.

Otto Addo received a lot of flak for leaving out a number of high performers, including Joseph Paintsil and Majeed Ashimeru, when he announced his team for the competition.

The Ghana Football Association and its president Kurt Okraku were accused of having influence over player selection throughout the event.
