Police in Duayaw Nkwanta, in the Tano North Municipality of the Bono Region, is looking for some men after they attacked two police officers and injured them, in order to release two criminals they had detained.
According to a Police situational report, a group of machete-wielding thugs, totaling around 15, previously attacked the Chief of Adrobaa's home, a pharmacy shop, and two other homes.
Residents of the home suffered knife wounds during the incident, and they then fled the area.
When news of the attacks spread, Police Corporal Philip Sion and Constable Bernard Amoah hurried to the scene.
They came upon the machete-wielding young guys riding toward Terchire while en route to the incident at Adrobaa.
The Police tried to stop these young guys because they could be associated with the group who assaulted the Chief's Palace, but they refused and continued to run.
They were pursued by the police for a while before they were eventually apprehended and handcuffed around 200 meters from the Terchire Police station.
Thirteen young guys arrived at the site a short time after the two detained men were handcuffed and arrested, demanding their release.
However, the police refused to cooperate and claimed they would not release the accused.
The thirteen guys and the police got into a fight, and regrettably, Police Corporal Philip Sion shot one of the men. The thirteen guys attacked the man.
The police officer was struck with a club on the back of his neck, knocked to the ground, and pounced on as Constable Bernard Amoah fought along with others to stop them from freeing the two arrested individuals.
The Police sought refuge at the Terchire Health Center, where they were treated when they sensed danger.
When a reinforcement team from the District Command came, it searched the local hospitals and found one of the suspects named Bilari Fuseini getting care while Mutakiro Fuseini had been declared dead.
The police are presently looking for the remaining suspects on the loose.
