Law Student Denied GH Bar Call Due To 'Immoral' Activities On Social Media

TikTok star Elorm Ama Governor Ababio

A final-year student at the Ghana Law School named Elorm Ama Governor Ababio has been disqualified from participating in this year's bar call, which is set for Friday, November 11, 2022.

Following her TikTok videos that supposedly depict a lifestyle unworthy of a potential lawyer, Elorm Ama Governor Ababio was reportedly disqualified.

More than 2500 people have signed a petition on the internet protesting the "injustice" the Law School meted out to her.

The new bar calls policy has apparently been accepted by the General Legal Council (GLC) and the Ghana Bar Association (GBA).

Beginning with the current academic year, law students must disclose their social media handles to the school for "monitoring" as part of new regulations.

Due to her posts on her social media accounts, particularly Tiktok, Ama Governor, an aspirant attorney who has met all academic graduation criteria to be admitted to the Ghana Bar, has been the policy's first casualty.

The fact that Elorm Ama Ababio is a self-described LGBTQI+ champion with several body piercings and a substantial following on social media sites like Twitter, TikTok and a YouTube channel under her name has not been mentioned.
