Akumadan-based Nana Kwaku Bonsam, a traditionalist and fetish priest, has now provided an explanation for why his prophecy and prediction regarding the 2014 FIFA World Cup were wrong.
Before the 2014 FIFA World Cup, which was hosted in Brazil, Kwaku Bonsam on Kumasi-based Angel FM Kumasi claimed to have spiritually bound the legs of Portugal's Christiano Ronaldo.
In that way, the Ghana Black Stars may triumph in their encounter with Portugal during the tournament's group round.
Then again, the Black Stars were defeated by the Portuguese by a goal of 2 to 1, but it was not enough to advance them.
Even though Ronaldo supposedly had a knee issue that limited his participation in the competition, he got off to a strong start against Ghana and finally scored a goal.
However, Nana Kwaku Bonsam said on the same media outlet that his prophecy could not come true because the Ghana Football Association (GFA) leadership did not give him the materials he need to perform the ceremonies.
"I told them that I have tied the legs of Christiano Ronaldo by then we had two more weeks to the World Cup tournament. And I said that he was going to have an injury prior to our match and what I will need is two eggs and a bottle of schnapps. So I told the GFA to make those things available to me to perform the ritual", he revealed
According to him, "the GFA instead kept talking and made a lot of noise. People called the leadership at the GFA but they told me they are Christians so they don’t believe in my gods. Eventually, what is said could not happen".
Kwaku Bonsam continued by saying that if the GFA did not make allowance for the sacrifice he had to make, he would be unable to purchase them on his own since that is not how the system operates.
"It doesn’t happen like that. This is how my prophecy went bad but Ghanaians didn’t understand and chastised me. I could have bought them but customs does not demand that", he lamented.
