On Saturday, November 5, the chiefs and citizens of the 36 states of Anlo will be joined by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuto-Addo, the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei-Tutu I, and his entourage of chiefs to celebrate the annual traditional festival, Hogbetsotsoza.
King Tackie Teiko Tsuru, the Ga Mantse, and Daasebre Akuamoah Agyapong ll, the Kwahuhene, are also anticipated as visitors during the renowned celebration.
The celebration, also known as Hogbeza, honors the Ewe-Dogbo people's emigration from Notsie in modern-day neighboring Togo.
After being postponed in 2020 and 2021 to comply with CoviD-19 rules, the holiday comes back this year.
As part of the larger goal of using the Hogbeza platform to promote unity, peace, and national cohesion, the Asantehene's presence would serve to commemorate the longstanding relationship between the Anlo State and the Asanteman, while the Kwahuhene and Ga Mantse would help forge a bond with the two kingdoms.
After Togbi Sri l, the Awoamefia of Anlo visited the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi for the 2018 Akwasidae, Daasebre Osei Bonsu ll, Mamponghene represented the Asantehene at the 2019 Hogbetsotso Festival in Anloga.
In an interview, Mr. Ken Kpedor, President of Anlo Youth Council, the umbrella organization of the youth of Anlo, urged residents of Anlo, both domestically and internationally, to attend this year's festival, which has as its theme: "60 Years of Anlo Hogbetsotsoza: Uniting for Development, Sustaining our Unique Cultural Commonwealth for Future Generations.
