Charles Adu-Boahen's position as the Minister of State in the Finance Ministry has been revoked by the President of Ghana.
This occurs shortly after the Vice President of Ghana ordered his termination and an inquiry into the corruption charges levelled against him.
My attention has been drawn to a video by Anas Aremeyaw Anas (as posted on his social media handle) showing the Minister of State for Finance, Mr Charles Adu Boahen, apparently using my name, inter alia, to peddle influence and collect money from supposed investors.
I would like to state that if what the minister is alleged to have said is accurately captured in the video, then his position as a minister of state is untenable. He should be dismissed summarily and investigated.
According to a statement from the Presidency, the President decided to fire him after speaking with him.
Since then, the case has been sent to the Office of the Special Prosecutor for inquiries to determine if the allegations are true or not.
Charles Adu-Boahen is seen negotiating investment arrangements with several businesses in Anas Aremeyaw Anas' most recent exposé.
He has publicly said that he will accept 20% of the alleged $500 million that investors are proposing to invest in the Ghanaian economy.
The Vice President rejected the allegation, stating that he does not accept appearance fees to meet with investors.
Adu-Boahen persuaded the businessmen that he could provide them access to the Vice President if they paid a $200,000 appearance fee.
