Abeiku Santana Throws Support Behind LGBTQI+ Advocates

Ghana gay and lesbians

Abeiku Santana, a well-known media personality, has admitted that he agrees with those who support sexual rights for lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, transgender people, and intersex people (LGBTQI+).

On Saturday, November 13, 2022, while Abeiku hosted the United ShowBiz entertainment programme on UTV, the CEO of Kaya Tours announced this.

Abeiku made this statement in response to the Ghanaian YouTuber Elorm Ababio's recent ban from being admitted to the Ghana Bar by the Ghana Legal Council (GLC).

"LGBTQl+ whatever. I have studied law and I intend to challenge the law, so I will use myself as an example. I am a subscriber to the opinions that support the choice of people's sexuality. I am a subscriber to it," he asserted.

The multi-award-winning presenters assert that Ama Governor's suspension had no legal justification.

"Which part of the law was breached and thus warranted the petitioner to initiate a formal request at the Ghana Legal Council calling for the suspension of Ama Governor from being called to the Bar? he quizzed."

Ama Governor's problems began when a concerned individual asked the Ghana Legal Council to cancel proceedings to call her to the bar because she had failed the moral test to practice law.

Social media users think Ama Governor's exclusion from the bar was caused by her outspoken advocacy for the LGBTQI+ community.

She was seen explaining her sexuality as a bisexual and detailing her encounters with both genders in a video.

A three-person committee has been assembled by the Ghana Legal Council to look into the situation.
