The current Tema-Mpakadan Railway project would be totally finished by the end of this year, according to the presidency of Ghana.

The seat of government announced on Tuesday, October 4, that the project is 95% finished.

The Presidency stated in a tweet that this project is anticipated to boost economic activity along its path while easing traffic on the highways once it is finished.

By the end of 2022, the Tema-Mpakadan Railway project, which is now 95% finished, is anticipated to be completed. The project will promote economic activity along its route while reducing traffic on the roads, the Jubilee House said.

The initiative is a component of the Ghanaian government's plan to grow the nation's railroad sector and enhance its socioeconomic situation.

Ghana plans to construct more than 4,500 kilometres of railroad tracks.

A multi-modal transportation network is being constructed as part of the Tema-Mpakadan project in order to enhance the connection between Tema Port and the northern areas of the nation.

It is a part of the initial stage of the 1,000 km Ghana-Burkina Faso Railway Interconnectivity Project, which entails the construction of a railway line connecting the Port of Tema in Ghana with Ouagadougou, the capital city of Burkina Faso.

The project's construction started in July 2018 and is anticipated to be finished in December 2022. Originally scheduled to be finished in 2021, the Covid-19 epidemic caused a delay.
