Oliver Mawuse Barker Vormawor, the main organizer of the civic movement #FixTheCountry, has suggested holding a protest to remove President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo from office after accusing him of undermining Ghana's democracy.
Mr Barker-Vormawor, who is charged with treason for allegedly advocating for a coup d'état to remove President Akufo-Addo, attempted to organize people for a protest to push the President out of office prior to the expiry of his term in office in a post on social media.
"It has become clear that Nana Addo does not deserve to finish his term of Office. He must be forced to resign.
"Tell me: How many of you will attend the #NanaMustGo Demonstration?" He wrote.
Earlier, Mr Vormawor urged that the President be halted in his tracks after accusing him of damaging Ghana's democracy.
"Nana Addo Danquah is destroying Ghana’s Democracy oo.
"He needs to be stopped before it’s too late oo. Yoo!" He had demanded.
Due to unmanageable debt levels, skyrocketing inflation, and a wild decline in the value of the cedi relative to important trading currencies like the dollar, Ghana's economy is in a crisis.
There is a great deal of unhappiness among public sector employees as a result of several labour protests.
Private companies have lamented the detrimental consequences of the weakening Cedi on their operations, and the Ghana Union of Traders Association has declared a strike in order to demand quick action from the government.
