According to the Ghana Police Service, an inquiry into an alleged money-doubling scheme carried out by Patricia Asiedua, also known as "Nana Agradaa," has started.
The Police claimed in a Facebook post on Saturday said that the suspect, who is the head of the Heaven Way Church in Weija, allegedly scammed some members of her church.
The Police said that the resentful members filed a number of reports, prompting them to initiate an investigation.
The Police, therefore, requested the public to cooperate with inquiries while maintaining their composure in a social media post.
POLICE INVESTIGATE PATRICIA ASIEDUA POPULARLY KNOWN AS NANA AGRADAA OVER ALLEGED MONEY DOUBLING SCAM
The Police have commenced investigation into alleged money doubling scam allegedly perpetrated against some members of the Heaven Way Church in Weija, Accra, by the founder of the church Patricia Asiedua.
The investigation was initiated following reports that have come to the attention of the Police on the matter.
We would like to urge anyone with information that can assist the investigation to report to the Accra Regional Police Command at Accra Central close to the COCOBOD building.
While investigation continues, we urge everyone, especially those who might have been affected to remain calm and not take the law into their own hands.
Videos of angry churchgoers of "Nana Agradaa" accusing their pastor of defrauding them were all over social media on Saturday.
The misled congregants claimed they believed her when she indicated they would receive several folds of money as she had promised.
Some of the alleged scam victims claimed they travelled very far distances to meet Nana Agrada in order to get their money after her promises turned out to be false.
Numerous social media users have criticized the impacted churchgoers for being too trusting and defenceless in the meanwhile.
They contend that because "Nana Agradaa," as she is known, has a reputation for defrauding her unwary clients, her congregation should have known better than to deal with her.
Others, on the other hand, have accused the Police of neglecting to control the former spiritualist after she allegedly repented and transformed into a pastor.
