The Tamale Technical University (TaTU) graduating class of 2021 stormed the campus to protest the administration's decision to postpone the graduation date for 2021.

The University's furious class, which graduated a year ago without receiving their diplomas or certificates, went to the administration of the institution with a petition requesting an explanation.

About 100 graduates protested outside the university while wearing red bands on their hands and heads.

Alhassan Abdul-Rauf, the group's secretary, read the petition and said that if their demands are not met, they will take severe action. They are asking that their batch's graduation day be held on the 29th of this month and that the graduation list be made public by the 21st of the same month.

He said that the school's administration had asked the graduating class of 2021 to pay GHS 150 as an additional fee to cover the cost of printing the congregation brochure, certificate, academic gown and refreshments.

Therefore, they are requesting that the administration lower the costs to GHS 100 so they can pay.

In response to the petition, Tamale Technical University's spokesperson, Osman Mubarik, stated that extensive planning has been done to ensure that the institution will award diplomas to graduates on November 12, 2022, and he pleaded with the students to exercise additional patience on that day.
