Just In: Weekend's Round Of EPL Matches Postponed.

English Premier League

After Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II passed away on Thursday, the Premier League decided to postpone this weekend's round of games.

Premier League teams honoured Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II at a meeting this morning, according to a statement from the league.

"This weekend's Premier League match round, including Monday night's game, will be postponed as a token of respect and to honour her exceptional life and commitment to the nation.

"We and our clubs would want to pay respect to Her Majesty's long and steadfast service to our nation, Premier League Chief Executive Richard Masters said.

She has been an inspiration and, after leading a dedicated life, leaves behind a remarkable legacy as our longest-serving queen.

"This is a really sad time for the country, but also for the millions of people who adored her throughout the world, and we join them in grieving her loss."

"Additional information regarding Premier League matches throughout the period of grief will be released in due course," the statement reads.
