According to the government, the Presidential Jet was sent to France for critical repairs only, and not for any other reason.
After the repairs are finished, the administration predicts that the plane will return to the nation in December of this year.
You may recall that the Defence Minister, Dominic Nitiwul, said the presidential plane will be flown to France for at least four months somewhere in May 2022.
In an interview with JoyNews, he stated, "By the end of this month, we won't have a presidential aircraft because the one we have is going to France for re-service; it's one of the reasons the President won't use it for four to five months.
In reaction to a Facebook post about the usage of the presidential plane made by Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Eugene Arhin, Director of Communications at Jubilee House, issued the following comment.
Contrary to the allegations made by the member of parliament for North Tongu, Mr Arhin stated that "no one utilized the Presidential Jet to France" and no one is now utilizing the Presidential Jet in France.
Only the crew, who consisted of pilots from the Ghana Air Force, took the plane to France.
In fact, the Presidential Jet left Ghana for France on August 30 in order to undergo extensive repairs that had been delayed. According to the Air Force, the Presidential Jet would remain out of commission for a total of four (4) months before returning to Ghana and being operational in December.
You may recall that the Hon. Dominic Nitiwul, Minister of Defense, informed Ghanaians that the Presidential Jet will be transported to France for extensive repairs in May of this year.
Consequently, he questioned how Mr Ablakwa anticipated that President Akufo-Addo would return to Ghana on Saturday, September 10, from his current tour to the Netherlands and France on board the Presidential Jet, which is undergoing extensive repairs and is planned to arrive in Ghana in December.
To prevent additional embarrassments to his person, he advised the NDC MP to curtail his propensity for spreading misinformation about the Presidential Jet.
