Road Accident Killed 28 People And Injured 148 Others During The Christmas Festivities

28 people across the country are said to have died while 148 others sustained various injuries in road accidents during the Christmas festivities.

According to a data compiled by the Ghana Police Service's Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD), 133 various accidents were recorded between 24th and 26th December 2021.

Another record reveals that in a period of seven days, between 19th December and 25th December 2021, 373 accidents were recorded claiming 81 lives while 378 were injured.

The Greater Accra Region recorded most of the accidents followed by the Ashanti Region with 156 and 90 reported incidents respectively.

In Accra, 1 person was killed in Odorkor, 1 in Weija and 2 in Asaman.

In Tema, 1 person was killed in Ashaiman and 6 in Sege.

In the Central Region, 1 person was killed in Assin Fosu, 1 in Mankessim and 1 in Swedru.

In the Eastern Region, 4 were killed in Kibi and 1 in Akropong.

In Bono, I person was killed in Sunyani.

In the Western North, 1 person was killed in Bibiani.

In the Volta Region, 2 people were killed in ho.

The Upper East Region and the Upper West Region both recorded one death in Bolga and Wa.

The Ashanti Region also recorded 3 death each in Tepa, Mampong and Ejisu.
