There has been a report of a deadly accident at Akyem Asafo that has taken the lives of 16 people.
A report reaching the camp of TellGhana indicates that 16 people have died in a gory accident at Akyem Asafo which has also rendered several others injured.
The accident happened between two vehicles containing passengers moving in the opposite direction.
The sad incident is said to have happened on the Accra-Kumasi Highway in the early hours of Friday, 26th February 2021.
Our source revealed that the two vehicles involved in the accident are a VIP bus and a Kia Grandbird bus with registration numbers GE 5510-15 and GT 5629-19 respectively.
The accident took the life of the driver of the VIP bus and his mate summing the death toll as 13 males and 3 females and others sustaining various injuries.
Eyewitnesses account reveals that the accident was caused after the Kia Grandbird driver moving in the direction of Kumasi made a wrongful overtaking on the Akyem Asafo highway.
The VIP driver in an attempt to save himself and the passengers in his bus from colliding in the other bus veered off the road but the other bus, unfortunately, also veered off the road crashing into each other.
The deceased bodies from the accident have been deposited at the mortuary while the injured persons have also been admitted to the hospital for treatment.
