Ghana Custom Seize Weapons At Tema Port


As the election period is getting closer, perpetrators are doing everything they can to trample on the peace in the country and cause mayhem during and after the day of the election.

Ghana customs have seized weapons at the Tema Port.


26 packs of 50 pieces of ammunition, 436 pistols and pepper spray have been confiscated by the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority.

On Friday, 9th October 2020, an imported container believed to contain personal effects, household goods and carding machine was flagged as 'Red Channel'.


According to the Assistant Commissioner in charge of Communication and Public Affairs, Florence Asante, the goods in the said container after a strict examination identified 18 packages as restricted items.

Unboxing the restricted items was 26 packs of 50 pieces of ammunition, 436 pistols and a 40 ml piece of pepper spray.


Florence Asante also revealed that the seized items were imported without the necessary permit from the Ministry of Interior.

Investigations on the restricted items seized have started and the conclusion would be made public by the police.
