Over the weekend eight juvenile soccer players lost their precious life in a gory car accident.
These players lost their lives after the KIA minibus they were travelling in plunged into the River Offin on Saturday, 19th September 2020.
According to the Police Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD), the major cause of the accident that involves 36 people of the Africa Vision Academy including players and management was speeding and overloading.
The car with a registration number AS 928-12 which was carrying the entire team plunged into the River Offin because of speeding and overloading, DSP Edmund Nyamekye, the Deputy Superintendent of in-charge of the Offinso Municipal revealed.
He also disclosed that the overloading and speeding on behalf of the driver made him lost control of the steering wheel which veered the vehicle off the road hitting the concrete that separates the road from the river and then plunged into the river.
Four of the accident victims have been admitted at the Accident and Emergency Unit of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) under critical condition.
