The embattled C.E.O of Menzgold, Nana Appiah Mensah, has announced a new requirement for customers looking to reclaim their investments from the defunct gold-dealership.
According to a statement issued by NAM1, customers must now acquire a Menzgold Digital Verification Access Card at the cost of GHC650 in order to verify their transactions and potentially receive their owed funds.
The statement highlighted that the verification card is intended for "customers who believe they have genuine indebted transactions claims, to check their transaction status."
This move is seen as an attempt to streamline the claims process and weed out potentially fraudulent or unsubstantiated claims.
Customers who are interested in claiming their transactions are urged to submit original colored soft copies of their supporting documents for transactions that occurred between August 10, 2023, and September 14, 2023.
The deadline has been set to ensure that the verification process proceeds smoothly.
The statement from NAM1's office justified this new approach, stating that "over sixty percent (60%) of claims they have received were with unacceptable infractions which invalidate the claims in question."
This step is aimed at conducting due diligence on customers who are owed money before any disbursements are made.
However, this announcement also came with a stern warning for customers who choose not to go through the verification process.
The statement read, "Customers who fail to undergo this process risk forfeiture of their purported claims, as their right of claim would have been waived by the failure on their part to discharge their obligation."
In essence, customers who do not comply with the verification requirement might lose their chance to reclaim their funds.
The Menzgold saga has been a long-standing issue, with many customers losing faith and patience over the years.
NAM1's latest move, though met with mixed reactions, is an attempt to restore order and credibility to the claims and reimbursement process.
