Tripoli conflict

Violent clashes shook the city of Tripoli in Libya, leaving a grim toll of 27 people dead and over 100 injured.

The Medical Emergency Department of the Libyan Ministry of Health confirmed the casualties on Tuesday, following a night of intense confrontations that erupted on Monday.

The clashes were ignited between the 444 Brigade and the Special Deterrence Force, triggered by the reported arrest of a powerful 444 Brigade commander.

This resulted in widespread unrest and fighting across several areas in Tripoli.

As the clashes raged on, more than 234 families were swiftly evacuated from the conflict zones in Tripoli.

To address the mounting medical crisis, three emergency field hospitals were swiftly established to provide crucial care to the wounded.

Amidst the chaos, Libyan Prime Minister Abdul-Hamed Dbeibah and local elders of Tripoli intervened, exerting efforts to broker a ceasefire between the warring factions.

The Interior Ministry confirmed that the clashes ceased on Tuesday, giving a glimmer of respite to the war-torn city.

Prime Minister Dbeibah didn't stop at just halting the violence – he issued a directive to compensate civilians for the property damage inflicted by the clashes.

This gesture aims to alleviate some of the hardships faced by the people caught in the crossfire.

The turmoil in Libya's capital brings to the forefront the ongoing instability that has plagued the nation since the downfall of former leader Muammar Gaddafi in 2011.

The power struggles and factionalism have led to recurring waves of violence and insecurity, making it a formidable challenge for any semblance of sustained peace and progress to take root in the region.
