A troubling video, which has since gone viral on social media, shows how a trotro driver and his mate attacked a motor traffic and transport department police officer (MTTD).
Since the video was obviously taken in the middle of the altercation, it is currently unknown what exactly motivated the trotro driver and his mate to assault the police officer.
The trotro driver and his companion are plainly seen aggressively attacking the police officer in the footage.
Before the policeman could stand up to stop the beatings, he was repeatedly punched while both of them had him pinned to the ground.
The spectators can be seen standing back and seeing the officer suffer his pain until he is able to stand up.
Later, other onlookers drew forward to persuade the trotro driver and his companion to stop assaulting the police officer.
While this is going on, some remarks on social media claim that the driver was arrested by the police for a traffic violation and refused to stop at the police station when they were being taken there.
They then brought him somewhere else and began hitting him. The driver and his accomplice are reportedly in custody, though.
