A driven K Adu, as he is affectionately referred to by his colleagues, has made a remarkable transition from Junior Secondary School (JSS) graduate to Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of a gas oven and stove company in the Ashanti Regional Capital of Kumasi.
In order to lower the high unemployment rate in the nation, K Adu constructed a sizable Gas, Oven and Stove plant in Kumasi with the intention of hiring over 100 people.
The CEO of K Adu Gas Oven and Stove Ebenezer Kwabena Adu revealed his life story on AMBASSADOR TV, which was seen by davasnews.com.
"Even though it was my childhood desire to graduate from a university, I was only able to complete JSS owing to family financial difficulties."
"After JSS, I was accepted into SSS, which is now SHS, but my older brother also required money to continue his school, so my impoverished parents advised me to let him go so I could start my own business."
"I didn't get the chance to attend SHS," he said, "so I relocated from Mile 9 in the Amansie Central District to be with my brother in Pankrono to learn how to produce Gas, Oven, and Stove."
"My brother can only give me money for food, so I went from Pankrono to Suame for more than six years to learn how to make gas, ovens, and stoves, but I didn't stop because I was determined to gain anything for the future."
"In 2010, after completing my six years of training, I was able to save Ghc140, which I then utilized as startup capital for my business making gas, ovens, and stoves. It was difficult for me since the money I had wouldn't have been enough to buy an entire sheet of steel to make one stove," he said.
"I presently supervise 25 employees, but I've created a factory in Kumasi, Ghana, to produce additional gas, ovens, and stoves since it's always been my desire to employ or train more than 100 people," he continued.
"When I realize that I'm giving people a job, it makes me happy because I see it as a dream come true. Sometimes I feel sorry that I couldn't take my study to the top."
