Last Tuesday, a 17-year-old Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidate who was brought to the labour ward just after entering the exam room gave birth to a baby girl.
While taking the current BECE at Kechiebi R/C Center in the Nkwanta South Municipality of the Oti Region, the candidate went into labour in the exam room.
Upon entering the exam hall on Tuesday morning for the Mathematics exam, Mavis Nabin reportedly started having contractions.
She was immediately taken to the Kechiebi Community-Based Health Planning System (CHPS) Compound, where, with the help of midwives, she finished the paper.
The test supervisor, Mr Lawrence Antwi, reported that Mavis gave birth to the child on Tuesday night.
According to reports from the clinic, the mother and the child were doing well, he claimed.
Mavis would complete the English and Religious and Moral Education test from the clinic, according to the supervisor.
For the first and second sections of the tests, Mavis had a single invigilator to make sure she adhered to all regulations.
Five nursing mothers and three additional pregnant candidates were listed as candidates for this year's BECE at the Kechiebi centre, he added.
The candidate is now in stable condition, and the facility's midwife said that they anticipate her release any day now.
